Theater League Announces Kansas City Broadway Shows at Kauffman Center

Theater League has announced they will host MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE AND MANDY PATINKIN and NEXT TO NORMAL at the state-of-the-art Kauffman Center for Performing Arts as part of their 2011-2012 Broadway Series.

AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE AND MANDY PATINKIN takes the stage January 17-22, 2012. Theater League presents two of the greatest living stars of the American musical theater as they team up to present an unforgettable performance of their greatest songs. The original stars of EVITA, Tony ® winners LuPone and Patinkin reprise their award winning duets from that celebrated musical, along with a whole host of Broadway’s greatest hits.

The 2011-2012 Kansas City Broadway Series continues with Theater League’s presentation of  Broadway’s MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, which will shake, rattle and roll the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts March 20-25, 2012.  This new smash-hit musical was inspired by the famed recording session on December 4, 1956, that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. Bringing that legendary night to life, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET features a score of rock hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more. The Kansas City Broadway Series will be presented at the historic Music Hall and the intimate Kauffman Center for Performing Arts. By bringing together Kansas City’s two premiere theaters, Theater League and Broadway Across America will bring the hottest shows straight from New York to Kansas City with larger blockbusters presented at the Music Hall and more intimate productions presented at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts.  Broadway Across America will present the Kansas City premieres of JERSEY BOYS and BLUE MAN GROUP at the Music Hall.
