Volunteer Appreciation Month

National Volunteer Appreciation Week is in April, but we like to celebrate our volunteers all month long. Previous celebrations include an Ice Cream Social, Music Bingo, tasty treats baked by Kauffman Center staff, and exciting giveaways donated by local businesses.

Ever since first coming to the Kauffman Center on opening day when Julia Irene Dennie-Kauffman welcomed each of us to this world-class venue,

I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Each time I come in, my goal is to help make each patron have that same positive experience. I hope that my love and enthusiasm for the great programming here carries over to our patrons. From the children’s matinees to National Geographic Live! to Yo-Yo Ma — there is something...

Volunteering at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is such a joy for me!

I love walking into the gorgeous building, seeing friends at volunteer briefings, getting to know new friends while working a shift and seeing excited patrons come to watch a fabulous performance while helping make it memorable for them. It is a gift I have given myself and one of the nicest I have ever received.

It’s a joy to have the opportunity to interact with the other remarkable volunteers, our patrons and the Kauffman Center staff...

while getting to view a wide variety of the best live performances in the city. Every time I’m at the Kauffman Center, it’s different, exciting and memorable. The training and support for the volunteers is second to none, and there are numerous opportunities to experience growth and satisfaction in time well spent.

- Phil, a Kauffman Center volunteer since 2011

Like many Kauffman Center volunteers, I volunteer with multiple organizations.

I don’t know of any other organization that works as hard to show their appreciation for their volunteers. I always feel valued, important and respected because they make that a very high priority. And let’s face it, the perks are pretty great—you get to be a part of the Kauffman Center!
